Wrap vs ResprayVinyl Wrap
Why Canberra Drivers Wrap Instead of Respraying
A vinyl wrap gives your car a completely new look while the factory paint stays untouched underneath. When you want a change, or sell, the wrap comes off and the original paint is still there. Buyers pay more for original factory paint.
Wrap vs respray. A quality wrap usually costs less than a respray of comparable quality and is finished in days, not weeks. A respray lasts longer but is permanent. For an older car with failing paint, a respray can still be the better option, and we’ll tell you honestly.
Wrap vs liquid wrap. Spray-on liquid wraps such as Plasti Dip cost less up front, but they are thicker, less durable and harder to get factory-smooth. For a finish that looks like paint, cast vinyl is the better investment.
- Change the look: any colour or finish, without committing forever
- Protect the paint: the film takes light scratches and UV, not your clear coat
- Fully reversible: professional removal returns the original colour

Finishes & FilmGuide
Matte, Satin or Gloss? Choosing Your Finish
| Finish | Looks like | Best for | Care notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gloss | Fresh factory paint | A colour change that looks like a respray | Easiest to clean; light marks can be buffed |
| Satin | Soft, low sheen | A modern, premium look | Hand wash only; no polishing or waxing |
| Matte | Flat, no reflection | Bold, aggressive styling | Shows oily marks; matte-safe products only |
| Carbon fibre / brushed metal | Textured, technical | Roofs, bonnets, mirrors and trim | Clean with a soft brush; no harsh scrubbing |
| Chrome / colour-shift | Mirror or colour-changing | Show cars and statement builds | Most delicate film; needs careful upkeep |

The film matters as much as the finish. Professional installers in Australia work with cast vinyl from manufacturers such as 3M, Avery Dennison and Hexis. Cast film stretches into curves without shrinking back, holds its colour longer in UV and removes cleanly. Cheaper calendared films shrink, lift at the edges and can leave adhesive behind. We use only premium-grade films and recommend the right one for your car, finish and driving.

How Much Does a Car Wrap Cost in Canberra?
-
Full Wraps01
Full Colour Change
Most full car wraps in Australia cost between $2,500 and $6,000, with prestige and large vehicles costing more.
Typical Price Range:
- Small car or hatchback: $2,500 – $4,000
- Sedan or mid-size SUV: $3,500 – $6,000
- Large SUV, ute, van or prestige: $5,500 – $8,500+
-
Partial Wraps02
Partial & Specialty
A big visual change on a tighter budget, and a popular first step for private owners.
Typical Price Range:
- Roof, bonnet, mirrors or boot: $300 – $1,200
- Chrome delete packages: priced on quote
- Chrome & colour-shift films: priced on quote
What changes the price:
- Vehicle size and shape. More surface area and complex curves take more film and labour.
- Film and finish. Chrome and colour-shift cost more than gloss, satin or matte.
- Coverage. A full wrap, door jambs included or not, versus a roof, bonnet or chrome delete.
- Paint condition. Chips, clear-coat failure or swirls may need paint correction first.
Prices are typical 2026 Australian market ranges for professionally installed premium film. Every car is different, so we quote after seeing it.
Our Wrapping Process & Turnaround Time
Consultation & Paint Prep
We confirm colour, finish and a fixed quote, then wash, clay and panel-wipe the car. Swirls and defects are corrected first, because they show through thin films.
Panel-by-Panel Installation
Badges, handles and trim come off where needed. Each panel is wrapped individually, with the film wrapped around every edge for a seamless, durable finish.
Post-Heat & Handover
Edges and recesses are post-heated to lock the film in place, then the whole car is inspected in good light. Full wraps usually take 3–5 working days; partial jobs are often done in a day.
Changing colour? Tell Access Canberra. In the ACT, a change of vehicle colour must be reported to Access Canberra within 14 days, and the change-of-detail inspection is free at the Hume inspection station. We’ll explain what you need when you collect the car. Can’t drop it off? Ask about our door-to-door pick-up service.

Wrap CareCare
Making Your Wrap Last in Canberra’s Climate
A premium cast wrap typically lasts 5–7 years with proper care; budget films can fail in 1–3. Frosty winter mornings, hot summer days and strong summer UV all work on the film, especially on the roof and bonnet.

Hand Wash & Shade
Hand wash with a pH-neutral shampoo, skip automatic car washes, keep pressure jets 30 cm from edges, and park in shade when you can. Never polish or wax satin or matte films.

Ceramic Coating Over Vinyl
As accredited Gtechniq and CarPro applicators, we can apply a vinyl-safe ceramic coating over your wrap for UV and stain resistance and easier washing.

Professional Removal
Controlled heat and the right technique lift the film and clean off adhesive, so the factory paint comes back clean and ready for what’s next.

Caleb was absolutely amazing to work with. I contacted him multiple times asking questions whilst working out what protection to apply to my new RAV4. Caleb patiently talked me through my options and helped me to decide what was best for my budget and car protection. I ended up getting my windows tinted, PPF applied to the bonnet and front bumper of the car and Graphene coating applied over the full paintwork and wheels. The quote and warranty provided were the best out of all the businesses that I contacted. Add that to their 5 star rating and good reviews choosing to go with Canbro was a no brainer. After many delays by the car dealer I finally received my car with only a days notice. Caleb was very accommodating and went out of his way to fit my car in at such short notice. Two weeks on and I have been very satisfied with the end result and all the support that Caleb has provided.Posted on Google![]()

This is long overdue as I’ve been unwell. These people are amazing. They did PPF on my new Ford Raptor as well as some ceramic coating and window tinting. It looks stunning. They are friendly, extremely helpful and they give lots of advice on how to maintain the vehicle. Caleb was amazing. I can’t thank you guys enough and would not hesitate in recommending you to others.+4Posted on Google![]()

Dealing with the CANBRO team was seamless, and the outcome was excellent. The guys are very courteous and polite, with great attention to detail. I had the PPF for the bonnet and rear boot lip, ceramic coating for the rest of the car, and, to finish the inside, interior vinyl, leather, and carpet protection. Well done by a great team.+2

Most full wraps cost between $2,500 and $6,000 depending on the size of the vehicle and the film, and larger or prestige vehicles can cost more. Partial wraps like a roof or chrome delete start from a few hundred dollars. Book a free quote for an exact price on your car.
A quality wrap usually costs less than a respray of comparable quality, and it’s finished in days rather than weeks. A respray lasts longer, but it’s permanent, while a wrap can be removed to reveal your original factory paint.
A premium cast vinyl wrap typically lasts 5–7 years with proper care. Canberra’s strong summer UV and frosty winters make hand washing, parking in shade and a ceramic coating over the wrap well worth it.
On healthy factory paint, a professionally installed and removed wrap protects the paint rather than damaging it. The main risk is with paint that has been resprayed or is already failing, so we inspect the paint before every wrap.
